– A lot of things make sense, but only a few of them are true –
Many of these posts are about the natural world and the numbers that describe it. As a scientist, I have been privileged to experience the kind of awe that arises from careful measures of nature. Those measures are how we understand the physical world. That kind of awe, empirical awe, is what I hope to communicate here. The playfulness of science often gets lost, even in popular accounts of research. I will try to fix that.
Aside from being science-related, the inclusion criteria for specific topics are simple: stuff that interests me and that I think will interest you. There are broad categories like medicine, physiology, evolution, cell biology, and probability. None of that will prevent diversions into the speed of darkness or the terminal velocity of a cat.
